Home Visiting

WHO IT’S FOR:

  • Families with young children (birth to age 5)
  • New and expectant parents
  • Teen parents
  • Grandparents raising grandchildren

WHY IT MATTERS:

Starting from birth, having a close, positive relationship with their parent and primary caregivers makes a huge impact on a child’s future. Parents want to do their best for their child, but many feel overwhelmed with stress and the challenges of being a parent.

You can be the parent you want to be. You have what it takes to help your child learn, grow and be healthy. Home visiting can help.

WHAT IT IS:

First Things First supports free home visiting programs across Arizona that provide personalized, in-home support for parents of young children and expecting families. A trained home visitor will work with you, in the convenience of your own home, to:

  • Support children’s healthy development and school readiness
  • Build positive parenting knowledge and skills
  • Promote overall family well-being
  • Provide resources and referrals to community services

You’ll build a close relationship with your home visitor. Regular home visits are made over a period of months or years. Visits may be scheduled for every week, every other week, or every month, depending on the program and your availability.

There are different types of programs for different parents, caregivers and children. Check with the home visiting program in your area to learn more and see if you are eligible based on your family income. They’ll be happy to talk with you and help you see if home visiting is right for you and your family.
