Expanding Access and Increasing Quality
While Arizona does not currently have a statewide child care grant program, there is much to learn from previous grant programs and from other states. These grant opportunities help expand access, update facilities, strengthen the workforce and improve the quality of care.
Arizona’s Child Care Infrastructure Grant
The Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant was administered by LISC Phoenix in partnership with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES) Division of Child Care (DCC) and First Things First (FTF).

This project was made possible by the time-limited Child Care Stabilization Grants appropriated in the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. A total of $65 million supported grantmaking and technical assistance activities to address the urgent need across Arizona for families and communities to access child care.
In less than a year, 478 child care businesses spent nearly $60 million in federal funding to improve 511 facilities for children, staff and families through the Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant program.
