Free, trusted support for Arizona families

Raising young children is a learning process—one filled with growth, curiosity and change. Along the way, it’s natural to have questions, want a second perspective or talk something through with someone who understands early childhood.

The Birth to Five Helpline connects Arizona families with trusted early childhood experts who offer guidance, information and support at no cost.

Connect with an early childhood expert

The Birth to Five Helpline is a free, bilingual and confidential service for Arizona families, including parents-to-be and caregivers of children from birth to age 5.

When you call, you’ll connect with an early childhood specialist who listens and partners with you to explore options, shares information and supports your goals for your child and family.

Specialists are available to answer questions Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can also submit your question online.

What can we talk about?

Families can call the Helpline for many reasons, including to learn more about:

  • Sleep and daily routines
  • Feeding, eating habits and nutrition
  • Emotional development and self-regulation
  • Behavior and social skills
  • Potty training
  • Child development and milestones
  • Health, safety and family well-being

There’s no “right” reason to call—if you have a question or want to talk something through, the Helpline is there for you.

Who answers the Helpline?

The Helpline is staffed by professionals with expertise in early childhood, including:

  • Early childhood development specialists
  • Registered nurses
  • Mental health counselors

Supporting babies in their first year

The Birth to Five Helpline also offers access to their Fussy Baby Program, which supports families with babies in their first year of life. Babies communicate in many ways, and some need extra time and support as they settle into feeding, sleeping and calming routines.

Fussy Baby clinicians work with families to explore ways to soothe and care for their baby, while also offering ways to reduce stress and supporting you in your role as a parent.

Services are provided at no cost and are available in-home for families in Maricopa County, as well as by phone or virtually statewide. To access these services, call the Helpline and mention the Fussy Baby Program.
