Family Activities

  • Families with young children (birth to age 5)
  • New moms and dads
  • Teen parents
  • Grandparents raising grandchildren
  • Foster parents
  • Family, friend and neighbor caregivers

Young children learn through play, interactions with caring adults, and stimulating experiences. Adults learn from each other, and the more you know, the better you can support your child’s health, development and learning.

First Things First supports a wide variety of free family-friendly activities, story times, play days, parenting workshops, literacy programs, cooking classes, community health fairs, and much more. Many are held in local libraries, community centers and other convenient locations and times. Some include free books for young children, like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program, to help you build a home library with age-appropriate books for your little one.

The goals for these activities are for you to:

  • Have fun with your baby, toddler or preschooler
  • Meet other parents
  • Learn from trained parent educators, literacy specialists, health professionals, etc.

Contact the programs available in your area to find out when, where and how you can participate. Family resource centers also offer many family activities.
