Carolyn Mawson Haro, of Globe, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Tucson, after living with cancer. Fittingly born on Independence Day, Carolyn was known for her spirited personality and was often described as a firecracker.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was a champion for young children in Arizona. Most recently, through her work at First Things First, where she served as the regional director for the FTF Gila Region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a child, Carolyn sometimes had trouble sleeping and would call for her dad to sing to her. His song of choice was \u201cMy Little Buckaroo,\u201d and from then on, she became affectionately known as \u201cLittle Buckaroo\u201d among her extended family.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carolyn attended Globe schools and graduated from Globe High School. She went on to earn her bachelor\u2019s degree from Northern Arizona University. In high school, she was a member of the flag team, the pom squad and participated in theater productions. She loved her high school years, especially homecoming, and was always a proud Globe Tiger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, Carolyn worked in a variety of roles that reflected her dedication to serving others, supporting her community and her lifelong commitment to public service. Her career included roles with the Gila County Health Department, Hacienda Healthcare, Arizona Child Protective Services, Aid to Adoption of Special Kids, Chicanos Por La Causa and the PHX Arena when it was America West Arena. She also served on the Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Board of Directors for several years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She will be remembered for her compassion, strength, faith, positivity and her love for life. She taught her sons to live with joy, to love deeply, to care for others and to take care of themselves. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cooking, reading, gardening and crafting, as well as exploring her family history through genealogy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her greatest pride and joy were her sons, and her love for them will forever be a part of who they are. Her warmth, laughter and spirit will live on in the lives she touched.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret Mawson. She is survived by her husband, Greg Haro; her two sons, Matthew Haro and Benjamin Haro; her parents, Dewey and Trini Mawson; her sister, Gina Wiley and her husband Dennis; as well as her in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
